Distant

Distant is the taste of the breeze,

The rustle of tranquil trees.

Bring me back some laughter please,

And wind the clocks to times of ease.

Arrested in our homes, and lost are the keys,

A plagued world, brought to its knees.

Smeared by uncertainty are days like these,

Panic in the streets with a single sneeze.

I wish to be someone who sees,

The thaw beyond this moment of freeze,

Until then, today is the only thing to seize,

A life worth living, fiery without a cease.

Icon Poetry: Don Draper / Mad Men

Vices run strong in this part of town,
Several have come here,
Several more have drowned.

Somewhere as the glasses clink,
You can hear this man think,
He’s alone in a crowd,
And yet to him,
A world has bowed.

He creates several others,
And destroys many more,
A creative after all,
He’s a ‘mad man’ at his core.

But don’t mistake him for others in the zoo,
Damaged but reflective,
There’s an awakening around him,
And it’s fast rising through.
